Sky Glass users in the UK can now enjoy the latest major software update, Entertainment OS 1.1, which has introduced the highly-anticipated Personalised Playlists feature.
This innovative update revolutionises the user experience for Sky Glass customers by allowing individual profiles within a household.
Personalised Playlists: A Tailored Viewing Experience
The Personalised Playlists feature is Sky’s response to the need for individual profiles, enabling different users within a household to add shows to their playlists.
Users can easily switch between playlists on screen, providing quicker access to their content. This much-requested feature has been a welcomed addition since the initial launch of Sky Glass as users previously had to share a single playlist.
Convenience and Compatibility
During the demo of the new feature, Pocket-lint reported that anything added to a Personalised Playlist would also be added to the main playlist on the TV or box. This means users can continue to use their Sky Glass devices in the current, conventional way.
New Cast and Crew Rail on Show Pages
Entertainment OS 1.1 also brings a new Cast and Crew rail on Show pages, allowing viewers to see actors, directors, and other crew members associated with a film or programme. By clicking on an individual’s name, users can explore other films or programmes they have appeared in or worked on.
Simplified Voice Commands
The update also adds a new Play voice command, allowing users to simply say “Play” followed by a show or film title, and it will immediately start playing. There’s no need to navigate back to a Show page first. This feature works with the Sky Glass microphone or the voice remote for Glass and Stream.
Bluetooth Enhancements for Simultaneous Listening
Finally, a previously teased feature when Bluetooth was added to Sky Glass is now available to use. Users can now listen to a show on headphones and through the speakers at the same time. This is particularly useful for those with hearing difficulties, who can benefit from a louder volume in personal headphones while watching with the rest of the household.
