Just bought...

    To me, I don't like 'Evanscence' very much. Just a few things of theirs really impressed me. So, I don't know whether to listen to the new album or not. Tell us later your opinion.

    I'd already downloaded it, and I thought it was ok. Just think this time she screams way too much. I went tho their show here in Rock in rio , it was the first show of their tour, and it was simply amazing. you can watch it on you youtube. I want to know what you think as well!

    Yes! It is really good! Very different from The Open Door, which was less commercial and darker. People didnt like it but I love it! :)
    The new one is much more energetic and has many powerful songs which could hit the radios easily!
    However, it has nothing to do with the single "What You Want", in case you've listened to it. ;)

    I listened to it a couple of days ago...Amy's voice is wonderful, but IMO the songs are very similar one another. A bit boring, but not that bad ;)

    Yes! I like it very much. I hope you enjoy it too. It is different, but I think it is wonderful. I'm not sure what my favorite song off the album is yet, not including the first single, I really do like "made of stone" and "end of the dream" there is just something good about each song so it is really hard to pick.

    Overall I'm just happy Evanescence has a new album out, I've been looking forward to that for a long time. :)

    Yes, I did. It's plain awesome! Although, you have to listen to it a few times to "to get into the feeling". However, some tracks are instant jewels from the first listen, like "The Change" for example, which is my favorite track from the CD. Please listen to the whole record carefully and tell me your favorites! Cheers,

    Awesome that you bought it! I have it and I really love it! For now it's my favourite album. I had to get used to it at first, because I thought every song sounded the same. But now that I listened to it more, I hear 16 really different songs. My favourites are: Say You Will, Made of Stone and Swimming Home.

    I listened it like 3 times and I can't get the vibe... it's not a bad album, but it doesn't gets me as excited as other albums.. maybe if I listen to it a few more times I'l think differently.

    I just received it in the post today :) I like it a lot! I was quite surprised because I thought it might not be to my taste. I was sad that there were fewer symphonic elements but in general I enjoyed many of the songs. :)

    It's an amazing album! It's such an emotional roller-coaster driven by Amy Lee's angelic haunting vocals and the bands thundering and unique way of playing. It's definitely the best album of theirs so far. The deluxe edition songs are really great too, especially Secret Door.

    I like it quite a lot. But I think it lacks much musical progression. However, I know for bands it's always hit and miss with people in that area.

    Within Temptation I think played it right. They changed it up with "The Unforgiving," yet kept their core sound intact with songs like "A Demon's Fate," "In The Middle of the Night," "Lost," "Fire and Ice," and "Iron." Some argue they changed a lot, but I don't see it.

    Evanescence played it safe. This album is very similiar to Fallen in my opinion, but I do love Fallen so then I also love this album. My favorite songs are: Sick, Oceans, Made of Stone, The Other Side, The Change, Never Go Back, Swimming Home, and The Secret Door.

    As usual Amy sounds very good and her writing skills come trough :). She's truly a talented muscician.

    What do you think of it Anette?

    I'm anxious to see how NW sounds with your new album. I imagine it's progressed, yet Tuomas hinted to a return of "classic Nightwish" too, earlier... so I'm curious to find-out what he means by that.

    Hi!) No. I think it's boring and monotonous. I like just 4 song from this album (oceans, lost in paradise, my heart is broken, swimming home). Perhaps I should listen to the album several times.

    I do like the new album. :) It took a little while for me to worm up to it, but it is quite good. Lost In Paradise, The Change, The Other Side, and Swimming Home are all very nice.

    I bought one, but in my opinion only first track was great. I think that they didn't developed since last album, comparing with The Unforgiving (Within Temptation) :D

    I loved it! I think its their best yet, I was kinda dissapointed in The Open Door, her voice has improved so much. My favorite songs are My Heart Is Broken and Lost in Paradise.

    I did, I listened to some songs tho but couldn't listen to the hole album, I didn't like it, I prefer to keep in my head the Old old evanescence, back in the Fallen album, that one for my is their best and that's all :P

    I've been listening to Evanescence since Fallen....in my opinion the last album is certainly heavier than the previous two cds...but to tell you the truth only 2-3 songs really stand out!You have to listen to the cd many times to actually appreciate the magic of each song.If i had to pick between Fallen,The Open Door and Evanence without any dought The Open Door is the winner for me! :-) So what did you think about it??

    Yes, I've listened to the album already... once! I gotta say it didn't impress me at all. Well, the songs are ok, but nothing new, nothing special in the sound, and that really disappointed me 'cause I used to love Evanescence from the very beginning. Actually, that's the first band with female vocalist I started to listen to. Though I still love Amy's singing but 'Made of Stone' and 'Oceans' are the ones that got my attention in some way :)

    I am, I heard the songs several times, and every time I like it more :)
    When the band split up, members who left formed a new band We Are the Fallen which is also very interesting, perhaps you'd like it :)
    I can hardly wait for the new single! Counting the days :)
    Anette you are so wonderful. At first it was weird to get used to your voice, but now I can not imagine Nightwish without you. Your voice is so beautiful, when I first heard you live, I fell in love with him. I started to really love some of the old songs that I didn't quite like before when I heard how you sing them. We fans are really happy that Nightwish have you.
    I send you all my love and I can't wait to hear you in Ljubljana and Budapest. I have already booked tickets :)))

    I don't usually care about the image but I smells some bad stuff about the band maybe because of their old stuff or their wannabe gothic "fans".
    But i also can't help but respect amy lee's creativity. so...I just hope you'll like their new album :)

    But Iced Earth's new album is quite nice to enjoy with their amazing new vocalist :P

    I borrowed most Cd´s, then by the way I can check the music and then to say. Yes, I want thisn CD too or not.. Early i have bought me many CD´s, have listering and then never more °~°.
    And I had any time not the money to bought me CD´s.

    well, I just liked "What You Want", the rest, hmmm... sounded like many of their previous songs, like if "What You Want" was the only different. But I dunno, maybe I would listen to it more times.
    I don't need to mention which album I am waiting the most... I can't wait to hear your sweet voice there! ^^

    Yes I've bought it on the day it came out in the deluxe version :) I really do like it, but I have to admit at first I didn't so much. Because they all sound quite the same on first listen, BUT when you give it some time and listen to each song closely, I think one can see that they are great :) Especially "Lost In Paradise" really brings me to tears, and I think that's where they're at their best :) But also the other ones like My Heart Is Broken, The Other Side, Made Of Stone or End Of The Dream are really good <3 So overall I would say it's a good album, but it could have been better :)

    PS: I can't wait to finally hear the new Nightwish Songs!! I love your voice and personality and thank you so much for taking the time to write this blog, I look at it daily :D Love you! <3

    I bought it the second it came out at midnight a few days ago haha. I think it's fantastic. Amy's voice gets me every time. The Other Side and Sick still have to grown on me but all the others I find are really killer songs. How's your first listen going for you?

    Hello Anette, :).I have the new Evanescence album and I really love it! It has definitely grown on me since I first listened. I think it's quite different from their previous records but the change is certainly positive. To me, it's a very dark album but it is also very uplifting (if you get what I mean, maybe more 'happy' - kind of hard to explain in writing!) and Amy Lee's vocals are stunning; so haunting and beautiful ;).

    Metal people have something negative when they hear the name "Evanescence".
    Amy Lee is so good! People should respect them.

    Lost in Paradise is so beautiful, and the heavy songs are powerful!!! Hope you enjoy it!
    There's room for everybody and it's so cool you can see it. Maybe 'cause the way you 'entered' it, and there are haters everywhere :P

    It is undoubtly an amazing disc. I fell in love with this disc since the very first time I heard the previews of the new songs. It is good to have them back. They're an amazing band and they definitely have improved with the pass of the years. Now I love them so much more than I ever loved them before.

    Oh yeah, and that one is justly the best one ever! I can't stop hear it! I love Evanescence, and I love Amy Lee... she's amazing. The album is powerful and very, very beautiful. Makes me feel so good... Takes me closer to myself. :)

    I liked Evanescence a lot when I was a teenager. In fact they opened up a whole world of music - I started listening to Nightwish because of them.

    They seem to have returned to the 'Fallen' sound with their self titled album, but it's much more mature. The piano parts are pretty nice, particularly in 'My Heart is Broken'. However, they don't really tick the right boxes for me any more and I find the lyrics too whiny. I think I wont get the new album purely because my music tastes have shifted towards heavier European metal as I have aged.
