Get bandwidth optimization using the JAGUAR ISP proxy cache solution.
Today’s Internet environment is rapidly evolving due to growing needs on high bandwidths as bandwidths of subscribers’ lines have been expanded from 10Mbps to 100Mbps (and even 1Gbps) while video streaming services such as YouTube are becoming increasingly popular all over the world. Many world-class research institutes forecast that video traffic rates will continuously increase and it will take up to 2/3 of the total traffic volume by 2015. To solve the issue of rapidly increasing video traffic, ISPs have considered and tried many ways: expanding lines (as the most traditional solution), developing CDN service, expanding origin servers, improving QoS and deploying caches.

However, the ISPs could not get the desired effects with the methods above: the quality of video streaming service was not guaranteed, and bandwidths at bottleneck sections were not reduced enough. In this case, the most effective solution would be to overcome the limitations on functionalities and performance of cache products.

ARA Networks presents JAGUAR5000, a cache server which provides the world’s No. 1 performance and stability among other competitors’ cache servers and JAGUAR MDC, a brand-new cache architecture which overcomes the limitations on functionalities and performance of previous cache products. With these excellent solutions, it is possible to maximize improvement on bandwidths of subscribers’ lines.

For JAGUAR5000, multiple JAGUAR5000s can be deployed where the line bandwidth is larger than 10Gbps and where video traffic and Web content are transmitted within the ISP. Therefore, the video-downloading speed is increased, and the line bandwidth is subsequently decreased.

JAGUAR MDC is suitable for network providers such as ISPs, rather than those service providers who are seriously concerned about the overall size of line bandwidth. In most caches, the data storage functions and service functions are integrated into one single device, causing heavy loads upon the cache when too much traffic occurs. However, to overcome limitations on the functions and performance of caches, JAGUAR MDC separates the data collection and storage functions from the service functions and processes all the functions.

Benefits of JAGUAR5000
  • over 4Gbps performance with small objects.
  • Support URL filtering and Antivirus.
  • Accelerate web browsing and reduce network latency for end users.
  • Control network bandwidth demands and congestion by eliminating redundant traffic.
  • Enable remote administration and manageability for deployment at points of presence.

Challenges to ISPs
JAGUAR5000
ARA Networks’ JAGUAR products are content delivery solutions with high performance and designed to meet the growing bandwidth demands of ISP networks. By deploying JAGUAR products throughout the network, Web content can be stored and served locally. This helps reduce network congestion and bandwidth considerably. Instead of installing additional WANs, installing JAGUAR products can accelerate connection speed, save costs, and offer quick ROI (return on investment).
JAGUAR MDC
ARA Networks’ JAGUAR MDC is suitable for ISPs who have networks with problems which are caused by rapidly increasing video and Web traffic levels. If an ISP introduces JAGUAR MDC, to enhance the user experience of the Internet, the Collector and the MDC Farm at the sections where the line bandwidth should be reduced or the largest volume of data can be collected. Generally, the sections are the IX sections which include boundaries of foreign networks as well as backbone networks.
Collector and MDC Farm collect and save video content. Redirector 1, which is distributed and installed at each region, delivers saved content in local cache disks near the user. If the local cache disk has no content, Redirector receives content which have been saved in MDC Farm and then delivers the content to users. MDC Farm saves and shares large-sized content such as video in the central sharing storage with tens or hundreds of terabytes, maximizing hit ratios and reducing the overall bandwidth.
* Redirector Type 1: A cache server, indicating the JAGUAR 5000 provided by ARA Networks, which supports the MDCP protocol that can interwork with the MDC Farm.
* Redirector Type 2: A cache agent for PC, provided by ARA Networks. It is a kind of software installed in the user’s PC, interworking with the MDC Farm to provide high-quality video streaming services.

Benefits of JAGUAR MDC
  • The hit ratio is maximized, and the bandwidth ratio of lines is saved by centralizing management of unified cache content within the network.
  • Fast Web response time and high-quality video streaming services are provided.
  • Processing in the high-bandwidth more than 10Gbps is supported.
