Born in 1981 to a Japanese mother and Spanish Filipino American father, Alicia Vergel de Dios was inspired by the bright textures, colors and patterns of her parents heritage. Moving to Brooklyn to attend Pratt Institute and earning a BFA in Illustration Alicia collects papers from all over the world, tears them apart and collages them back together, manifesting an image of her personal methodic but unrestrained process. She then inks organic forms on top of the collage creating work that vibrates with energy. Her inspiration comes from the rhythmic patterns of music, chaos of NYC, and travels around the world. She hopes to continue to expand upon her collection of visual experiences and share them with the masses.
