Getting the travel bug at a very young age, I recall some of my happiest childhood memories were family vacations. Then having my own child, I looked at travel as education as we discovered new places and quality time that can't be measured. Now as an empty nester, the world is a playground and the possibilities are endless. It's a beautiful world out there. Travel makes people happy, and this is one reason I became a travel advisor in addition to a career in journalism (print and broadcast) and public relations (media relations and, more recently, digital content management). I write about destinations and insights into new cultures, foods and ways to enjoy nature. Luxury is about time, good health, friendships old and new, and an ever-enduring desire to see and do more. I also write about travel hacks, consumer tips and becoming a "smarter" traveler.

I have been a freelance travel journalist and magazine editor since 1997, however, my longstanding career in the travel industry dates back to 1969 when I began working for Air Canada as a marketing, promotions and communications specialist. My travels have covered the globe and there is still so much more to see, experience, learn and share with readers. For the past 20 years, my husband and I have also operated a bed and breakfast, Globetrotters B&B/Gallery (globetrottersbb.ca), in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada -- home to the world-famous Shaw Festival and to more than 100 wineries.
