If you thought my post about 3D printing and special effects was astounding, watch this video showing a woman, paralyzed from the waist down, WALKING AGAIN!
I kid you not, this is real. You can read the full article here, and I’d like to thank 3D Print-news for bringing this incredible innovation to my attention.
If I were a religious person I’d call this a miracle. But I’m not, and it isn’t. This is humanity at its best, marrying technology to vision in a great cause. This is science fiction come to life.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I felt this good about being a human being!
cheers

We both know it will end up with far more insidious uses, but it’s good to know there are /people/ focused on compassion as well.

Did you see the video with a child that had an exosceleton printed to help her move her arms? She has a condition that her muscles wouldn’t have the power to allow her to move her arms. I was looking for info on newer 3D printers than the one i once used and i run into a video of her.
When her mother started talking about how her daughter called her exo “her magic arms”… Nope… didn’t choke. Nope, not me…

Astounding, amazing what man’s ingenuity can create.I’d like to think the sight of a woman regaining her freedom in this way would be enough to stop the naysayers. The future can bring so much more as they start to produce internal organs based on our own DNA to function in place of the faulty or the cancerous.Bones to replace those shattered in accidents. The possibilities are endless.
Thanks for sharing this with us Meeks.

Yes! In fact we were watching a program on TV last night – Stephen Hawking’s Future Science – that had a segment on printing organs using the body’s own bio-ink.And this is all just the very topmost tip of the iceberg. π
