Halloween…the one time a year you can be ANYTHING you want and you get to dressup…eat candy..its fun! Well, this was my first Halloween not in America and I must say that there are some definite differences between how America celebrates Halloween and how Europe celebrates.

Seems to me that Americans have altered the real Halloween celebration into “everyone dress like a slut” day. Which is true. Americans, don’t lie to yourselves…you KNOW its a fact. Everyone gets froofroo costumes that are way to short for people to wear. OR the costumes that are completely ironic…or just plain ridiculous. This is how American’s dress for Halloween. I mean, I was Captain America…and I had friends who were Lady Gaga, a Freudian slip, Minnie mouse…and one was even MIGHTY MOUSE (best costume of the night by far). All of the females outfits were super short, fun, we had a good time. We rocked the cliché American Halloween costumes. It was fabulous.

UK style is a little bit different. Their version of fancy dress for Halloween is more on the scary side. Lots of fake blood. And when I say lots I mean LOTS. Fake blood on the outfit, fake blood in the accesories…and even fake blood for part of the make-up. However, makes sense…they are alot more in the true spirit of Halloween. Apparently Americans have just warped what Halloween SHOULD be like. Us Americans are also alot more into Halloween than over here in the UK.

I must say though, EVERYONE did a great job on their costumes! It was so much fun to see everyone show up to our “Mask-erade” party all Halloween-ed up! And almost everyone had a mask on, which made it fun because some people you could not tell who they were at all, which made for a fun night.

If I had to pick which (UK or America) would win the Halloween battle it would be tough…although America is much more into Halloween…I enjoyed UK’s style more because it was not all about being a slut, so the costumes varied from minnie mouse to flapper to butcher to people just wearing gas masks (you know who you are haha).  It is nice to have such unique people in one area all dressing up in such random, fun costumes.

So UK style wins this one for me 🙂
