Iberostar Laguna Azul opens in Cuba

IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts has opened its latest property, the IBEROSTAR Laguna Azul in Cuba’s popular resort of Varadero.  Officially opened on the 14 September 2009, this brings the total number of properties that IBEROSTAR operates in Cuba to six and is perfect timing as British travellers start planning their winter sun holidays for 2009/’10.

The IBEROSTAR Laguna Azul is located on a beautiful stretch of Varadero’s beach. It is approximately 160 km from Havana city and 20 minutes from downtown Varadero.

 

The 814 room hotel is divided into separate buildings with beautifully spacious rooms and suites. There are 24 junior suites and eight of these are specially equipped to cater for handicapped travellers. Each room is elegantly appointed with a balcony, satellite television, a fully stocked minibar and air conditioning.

There are many services on offer including currency exchange, medical services, 24 hour internet services, a photocopier, a tourism bureau and the option to rent a car, bicycle of motorbike. There are also conferencing facilities available for business travellers.

 

Meanwhile guests looking to unwind can sample any of the five outdoor swimming pools with sun loungers, parasols and towels – all of which are free of charge. Those who fancy a little pampering during their stay can indulge in the spa, Jacuzzi and beauty salon. For additional entertainment there is an ice-cream saloon and an animation theatre.

 

There are several bars and restaurants located in this all-inclusive establishment, including a lobby bar and a cigar bar and the hotel prides itself on offering a wide variety of cuisine which includes Italian, Japanese, International cuisine. There is also show cooking in the main restaurant.

 

For those guests who have enjoyed sampling the food at IBEROSTAR, there are also plenty of opportunities to work off some pounds, with an amazing range of sports facilities and classes: From aerobics and dancing classes to billiards and table tennis, not to mention tennis courts and beach volleyball.  There are also a range of water sports including windsurfing, catamaran, kayak, snorkeling and water polo.

 

This property caters for all of the family with a Miniclub for children between 4 – 12 years with a children’s pool, games room, babysitter and a mini entertainment show. There is also a babysitting service at an extra charge.

 

Nearby to the hotel there is open sea diving, horse riding, bowling and an 18 hole golf course.
