The social and economic transformations of the last two decades have had a profound effect on the behavior of corporations that were previously accustomed to focus exclusively on the maximization of profits. This was never the posture of the Brasileiro family, which was already committed to the concept of social responsibility at the time of the purchase of the first farm in 1977.

The aim of corporate social responsibility at Brasileiro Specialty Coffees is to contribute to a fairer Brazil, in terms of social develpoment, by the exchange of experiences and new social technologies, becoming a partner in the construction of a more sustainable and just society.

During the harvest season, the farm employs more than 500 workers. All employees, both permanent and seasonal, are contracted according to Brazilian labor legislation, one of the strictest in the world. Employees receive medical assistance, unemployment benefits, paid vacations and all other rights under the law.

Child labor is utterly forbidden on the farms and by Brazilian legislation. All children have access to education and are transported to school in buses operated by the local government.

Experts in job safety provide frequent training to employees and machine operators, while an internal accident prevention committee holds regular meetings to discuss preventive safety measures. Farm employees receive periodic training in their areas of specialization.
