Tivoli Storage Manager – Client Node, Schedule and Backup Archive configuration for Microsoft Enviroment

SETTING CLIENT NODE

In this procedure, we will create a Nod Name and Schedule through Tivoli Integrated Portal for the server named Server01

Expand Tivoli Storage Manager menu and click on Client Nodes and Backup Sets. On the right panel, click Create a Client Node on Select Action menu.


Select the TSM Server and Policy Domain created during setup TSM Server. Enter the server name (which will be made backup) and the TSM Server password, click OK.


SETTING THE SCHEDULE

Expand Tivoli Storage Manager menu and click on Policy Domains. On the right panel, click the TSM Server, and then click the Policy, previously created.


Expand the Client Node Schedules menu and select Create a Schedule on the Select Action menu

 

 
On this screen, choose a name and Schedule type. For this example, Backup. Click Next.

 

On the Select Backup Options screen, choose the type and files for backup, in this case, Incremental to the local folder C:\Backup\*. The syntax must have “\*” to backup all files. Add the line -subdir=yes on Client options to use durin the backup operation.

 

On the next screen, select the day/time and repetition options for the Schedule.

 

On the next screen, Repeat the Schedule, set default value, 1. Click Next.
On the Advanced Schedule screen options, check the Schedule never expires, click Next.

On Associate Client Nodes, associate the Schedule to the Client Node created earlier and click Next.

 

On the Summary screen, check out the schedule options and click Finish

  
INSTALLING TSM BACKUP ARQUIVE CLIENT FOR MICROSOFT ENVIROMENT

To finish configuring the Backup, you must install the client on the TSM Server. Run the file TSM_BA_Client. Click Next.

On the Setup Type screen, select Custon and click Next. Enable all features, click Next.

Wait the installation and click Finish.

Create a new file named DSM.OPT in C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\BACLIENT with the settings below, change the NODENAME and TCPCLIENTADDRESS for the NAME and IP of Server, respectively, save it.

After configuring dsm.opt, you must to configure the Client. Run DSM.EXE from C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient. In the Wizard that opens, on Utilities menu, select Setup Wizard.

On the screen that opens, select options Help me configure the TSM Web Client and Help me configure the TSM Client Schedule, click Next.

 

On Choose task screen, select Install a new Web Client agent and click Next.
On Web service name screen, select TSM Client Acceptor, click Next
On Web client options screen, select the default port 1581, click Next.
On Option File Name and Location screen, let the default path and click Next.
On TSM Authentication screen, enter the User ID and password and check the Contact the TSM Server to …, click Next.

 

On Service Login Options screen, select the options that The System account to log into Windows and Automatically When Windows boots. Click Next.

 

On Select the names of the Web services screen, click Next.
On Start Option screen, select Yes. Click Next twice.

On TSM Scheduler Wizard screen, click Next. On the next screen, TSM Scheduler name and location, select Local Machine and check Use the Client Acceptor daemon… and click Next twice.

 

On Log file Names and locations screen, on Schedule log, change to C:\tsm\Schedule.log. For error log, change to C:\tsm\Error.log, click Next and Apply / Finish. Confirm and Apply your configuration.

To Test the remote client, type http://servername:1581. On the screen that opens, up the option, click Restore, enter the TSM user name and password.
