Local move from Mahopac, NY to Fishkill, NY

Great experience

I recently moved and everything was difficult except my experience with Mayflower. They were amazing. My closing was delayed over a week and they worked with me and made a very difficult situation much easier. I cant say how great they were. Kayla my contact there was so great. The movers were professional and clean. I would use them again for sure.

Long-distance move from Peoria, AZ to Lanse, MI

Horrible Experience!

Mayflower is by far my worst experience I've had with a moving company. They ensure you that your property is in great and responsible hands when in fact its not! In short the crew that showed up was late, had zero supplies to wrap and cover. No ratchet straps to secure cargo, and had to borrow mine. even tried contacting the logistics supervisor who was heading this my transaction, I nor the so called load master on site wasn't able to reach anyone for insight on what needed to be done about the loading process or lack there of. The so called load master ensured me again that my property would be wrapped and covered before shipping....Lies!!!! There was never any communications with me on when or where the delivery truck was and when its going to arrive. I was morbid, thinking the worst. Two days before the driver(s) arrived I received a call informing me that the truck had left the staging site and that it was on the road to be delivered at such given time the load master stated which was 2 days after, and that to make sure the payment was to be prompt upon delivery. Once the movers arrived I was at some sort of relief until they unloaded the contents. First of all it wasn't the same crew that loaded the truck at my property, once the truck was staged they began to off load my property, right off the bat I notice oddities, like no covers on the mattresses, no wrap on any of the pictures, no blankets on the furniture, and many pieces of property had been broken. Every piece of furniture including the mattresses and the couch were damaged , scuffed, dirty and smelled of mildew. everything was wet! Unusable! missing sports ware, missing table glass, missing table, chairs, clothing broken entertainment center, the list goes on and on. So when the I approached the moving crew they said to take it up with Mayflower, they just picked up the truck and drove it here. At that point I had to speak to the person who was in charge of my logistics and all I got was make a list take pictures and send them to me and ill get started on the claiming process. No excuses or site of responsibility for what happened. This has to be addressed! Who else has been affected? Am I to be compensated for the damages and theft of my belongings? My trust in good business has been totally destroyed at this point!!

Long-distance move from Miami, FL to Denver, CO

Great

Needless to say that looking through different moving companies for quotes was a nightmare with lots of phone calls the following days.. mayflower however gave us a quick estimate, Marlo on the phone was very nice and spent almost 1 hour answering all our questions, virtually touring the house and explaining everything. We moved from Miami FL to Denver CO and the price was fair, not a lot more expensive than renting a truck ourselves and driving across country.

the delivery happened the day it was supposed to at the exact time that was discussed.

Both loading and unloading crews were super efficient and very nice. Everything arrived in good condition, besides a couple dents on some furnitures that were reported on a claim. The move coordinator was very present and answered emails within just a few minutes every time we had a question. I was terrified of moving companies after reading so many bad reviews and some relatives that went through hell when they hired one. I am relieved and thankful to know that some companies are still serious and honest

Long-distance move from Montclair, NJ to Boca Raton, FL

Outrageous quote!!

Im glad I came here to read these reviews and have dogged a big EXPENSIVE bullet.

TLDR: They wanted to charge us 3x the cost to move us 1/3 the distance. We moved from CA to NJ 2 years ago and were charged 10k$ to move us 3k miles. 2 years later, the same amount of stuff to move to FL about 1k miles, 32K$!!?!?!? For that price I could get a uhaul and move family antiques, our clothes and other household items (for at the MOST 10K) then buy BRAND NEW furniture with a 20k budget.

Longer-more details:

We move 2 years ago from SF CA to North NJ. About 3k miles. While we had a much smaller home(about 1500 sq ft) but we had stuff from 2 other investment homes (we furnished to do airbnb) and being a family of 4, a good deal of stuff and furniture. In the last 2 years, we haven't bought any new furniture other than some patio furniture. Our household items are the MOST same or less more likely) bc we already did an "initial move"(hubby that works from home and our 2 kids wanted to get down to FL ASAP) where we moved a few beds, a couple of couches, hubby's work desk(that is motorized to go up and down( daily dishes, pots and pans, other essential items packed into our Ford van and a Uhaul trailer we rented for 1k. We are moving from a 5,500 sq ft house to a 2000 sq ft house. I think the woman that gave us the estimate saw the big "mansion" and gave us the "mansion" price.

Listen, I get that gas has doubled in price since 2020 but I asked 3 very accomplished real estate agents to guess the outrageous price I was quoted and all three said "10K!" These ppl have billions of $ of home sales under their belts and know how much things should cost.

Needless to say, we will be going with a different company!!

Long-distance move from Washington to Arizona

Erin Hawkins.

We paid a little over $1400 for Crown Moving and Storage to move our daughters belongings from the Seattle area to Chandler Arizona. She did not have expensive furniture and I did not take out the additional insurance. The condition her items arrived in was horrible. Most boxes were damaged, some crushed, and some with holes. One box, was broken open with her clothes spilling out. A bookshelf was completly broken apart. The dresser had a crack on the side. The 40 inch flat screen TV box had a large hole on the side and when opened the TV had a long crack across the screen starting from where the hole in the box was. There has been no response from the claims department and two phone calls have yet to be returned. The furniture was not expensive and we can live with that, but the TV is the concern. Never would I have expected her items to arrrive in that kind of condition. I have no idea what happened to her belongings during transit, but I feel the money was completly wasted considering the condition the items arrived in.

Long-distance move from Florida to Texas

Poor, Poor Move.

While the contact person and ' movers' were nice in the beginning, we found the driver and packers were not good at what they were supposed to have been doing.  Found out that the contact person and driver were 'aunt and nephew'.  We were 'quoted' to have been delivered in three days.  In fact, we were called and extra days scheduled for delivery.  People that we had contacted for delivery, dates/times had to be rescheduled because of the moving company's delays. Our heavy bedroom dresser was broken beyond repair.  Driver even acknowledged the damage and it was noted on the bill of lading.A living room side chair had the cane completely broken out of the side.  Two living room lamps were broken. Many upholstered items were not covered as they were supposed to have been. We experienced many boxes that were damaged with contents broken beyond repair, some of these were old pieces inherited from deceased members of our families that could never be replaced. There were many other damages found and noted as contents continued to be unpacked.  All damages were noted on claim form. This was a very expensive move!   We did miss the claim date thinking it was a year.  It simply slipped my husband mind with all he had to do for me.  I couldn't drive. We explained it in that I had major surgery and many, many office visits to the doctor regarding the complicated surgery. I also was dealing with a private court case as well as dealing with real estate broker for our home in Pensacola.  I  still have numerous office visits to the doctor and surgery will be repeated in less than a month. We did contact the home company Presdent Pat Larch and received by mail  a terse rejection letter from a Carol Foster, Mgr. of their Claims Department. While we though we were getting a 'good national' moving company, in fact it was just the opposite with all of the damages incurred.  It seems that the packers of the contents of the truck were not as experienced as led to believed.Just want to make sure that the words gets out about the Mayflower moving company in Pensacola.  Sad note..it was told to us by the contact that most of  Mayflower's business in and  out of Pensacola was military business.   What a shame that our military would have to put up with such incompetent service.

Long-distance move from Bluffton, SC to Wilmington, NC

Negligent and Substandard Performance and Exorbitant Charges.

Mayflower Transit, LLC charged us $6,876 for an interstate household move from Bluffton, SC 29910 to Wilmington, NC 28412, a freight bill distance of 268 miles. The freight bill net weight was 12,660 lbs. The load date and agreed scheduled delivery date were in August 2017.

Our “Mayflower” moving experience was characterized by the following:

• Negligent and substandard performance and exorbitant charges
• Charges for “experienced professional” services and materials not provided
• Two trucks with inadequate combined cargo space
o One rental truck
o One truck partially loaded with goods from another customer
• Articles handled without care
• Many expensive items severely damaged
• Many expensive items missing
• The involvement of six businesses, “agents” and/or subcontractors
1. UniGroup, Inc. located in Fenton, MO, the owner of Mayflower Transit, LLC
2. Mayflower Transit, LLC located in Fenton, MO
3. Mayflower Transit, LLC, located in Chicago, Il
4. Nilson Van & Storage, located in Columbia, SC
5. Nilson Van & Storage, located in Savannah, GA
6. Sandhills Moving & Storage Co., located in Southern Pines, NC
• Leaving a mixture of residence and storage items in a storage unit without order to make a delivery schedule commitment to another customer
• Inaccurate and incomplete Household Goods Descriptive Inventory
• Incorrect reassembly of items disassembled
• Several hours late arrival on load date
• Goods delivered a day later than agreed
• “Mayflower” decision makers unwilling to make things right.

Long-distance move from Tennessee to New York

Poor moving and claims experience.

The overall move from nashville, TN to NYC cost approximately $17,000. The move out of my nashville home was fine. The problems began when moving into my home in New York City. The move in was supposed to be completed in 1 day. It actually took 3 days where the 3rd day was a combination of the 2nd and 3rd days. The movers worked until 4am on the 2nd day keeping me up all night. They had to rush to complete the work, hence they placed the furniture at random, making it extremely difficult for me because I had to rearrange a lot of very heavy furniture. In addition they damaged several items, 12 to be exact, and because I actually moved some of those items subsequent to the move in to reduce the chaos that they left, , they refused to honor my claim. I found them to be unresponsive, unprofessional and deliberately ignoring my claim. They have no concept of customer service as indicated by them not responding to my survey, which as you can imagine, was not a good one.  Do not use mayflower as a moving company. They will overcomit, under deliver and not honor what one should expect for customer service.

Long-distance move from Orland Park, IL to Peoria, AZ

Damage.

I moved from Illinois to Arizona 8/2019. My furniture was to be loaded on site from my residence into storage vaults, it was not. I am told that when the items arrive at the storage warehouse the crew needs their blankets back and they unwrap your furniture.

The furniture once pulled for delivery sits unprotected on the warehouse floor for the cross country driver who delivers your goods to re wrap.

I ended up with split deliveries that were delayed one and two weeks.

All but 4 pieces of furniture were scratched, dented, warped or plain dirty.

My front porch Stucco was damaged by careless delivery people.

So now it has been 7 months since filing my claim. I am on my second repair firm. The first, Customer Claims, brought things back worse than they left with swirls, mismatched colors, smeared finishes, etc. I have been waiting 8 weeks now for a supervisor to authorize the second repair company to attempt repairs. I keep being reassigned to new adjusters, no one knows who has my case, nothing gets resolved. I was told that the first repair company acknowledged the mess they made and withdrew charges. Nice for UniGroup insurance, but I am left with damaged furniture with no end in sight. They want to offer me appearance adjustments, but many things are only a few years old and everything was well cared for.

I packed my own heavy duty, new boxes, one had broken items. My boxes were used as a workbench to elevate my sectional on when it was wrapped.

I did pay extra for full value protection with coverage for sets and pairs.

My advice, don’t bother moving things you loved.

Long-distance move from Chesterfield, VA to Fort Myers, FL

WARNING ⚠️. Please read

We obtained several different quotes for our move from Virginia to Florida. After reviewing all of them and emailing back and forth with the virtual sales consultant we made the decision to contract with Mayflower. We were given a quote of $13,651.28. On August 10, the moving company came as scheduled. The mover asked prior to anything being loaded in our home if we would be in Florida Saturday Aug 14 to accept our items. I explained to him we would not be there until the following week and that per our communication(written) with the sales

Consultant we would not have the funds “available” to pay this move in full until August 15. This mover immediately responded by saying “that’s no problem whatsoever. I can look at you people,

Your belongings and this home and know you’re good for it. You can pay when the funds become available “.

Not quite how things actually played out. Phone calls, emails, text messages, etc between myself, the mover, relocation management specialist and the supervisor all came to a dead end. Our belongings were taken to a warehouse 150 miles north of the contract drop off point and this was our final bill.

“Cost to customer and must be a certified check, no credit cards

Transportation $13,651.28

Long delivery $1500

Storage $5554.32

Total is $20,705.60”
