But that could be coming to an end after President Biden signed a bill Wednesday that will give the Chinese owner ByteDance up to a year to find a buyer.     Broadcasters achieved a symbolic victory in Washington last month as the number of House members on record opposing a radio royalty reached 225, giving the industry a House majority. Despite the milestone, the industry remains frustrated with the larger royalty structure as new performance-rights organizations emerge and more listening occurs online, causing stations to pay more in royalties.     San Francisco non-commercial news/talk KQED is the latest public radio group to initiate voluntary buyouts to counter budget deficits. President Michael Isip said the offers are the first step to reducing costs and that additional layoffs or hiring freezes could follow.     The Peabody Awards Board of Jurors has announced the nominees for the Radio/Podcast category. The nominees were chosen by a unanimous vote of 32 jurors from over 1,100 entries across stories released during 2023. On the shortlist are PRX, NPR, the Washington Post, iHeartPodcasts, Serial Productions, American Public Media, Spotify, and USG Audio, among others.     Capitol Broadcasting Raleigh, NC, and the Carolina Panthers have expanded their partnership, which will result in the move of game-day broadcasts from “99.9 The Fan” WCMC-FM to the more powerful AC “Mix 101.5” WRAL for the upcoming NFL season. The new deal extends the relationship through 2027 and includes a game-day simulcast on “Buzz Sports Radio” WDNC/WCLY.
