I don’t blame the public for not wanting to put the Republican Party back in power in Washington.
Every so often, we see something in the news that we find to be completely infuriating.
I am by no means the first person to learn this lesson, so instead of a “first take,” I’m going with an “umpteenth reminder” this week: wear your sunscreen!

Sinking technology stocks sent Wall Street lower again, and the S&P 500 fell to its fourth straight loss. The index dipped 0.6% Wednesday for its longest losing streak since early January. The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged down by 0.1%, and the Nasdaq composite fell 1.1%. Biden vows to shield U.S. steel industry by blocking Japanese merger and seeking new Chinese tariffs
President Joe Biden has told an audience of cheering unionized steelworkers that his administration will block the acquisition of U.S. Steel by a Japanese company. And he's calling for a tripling of tariffs on Chinese steel. The Democratic president is seeking to use trade policy to win over working-class votes in Pennsylvania, an election-year battleground. He said Wednesday that U.S. Steel “has been an iconic American company for more than a century and it should remain totally American.” His administration is reviewing the proposed acquisition by Japan’s Nippon Steel. On the tariff front, Chinese imports account for only a small percentage of the steel products coming into the United States so the higher fees are largely symbolic.
The Senate has dismissed all impeachment charges against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, ending the House Republican push to remove the Cabinet secretary from office over his handling of the U.S.-Mexico border. The two votes effectively end the trial before arguments ever began. Senators voted separately to dismiss the two articles of impeachment, arguing that they are unconstitutional. The first article charged Mayorkas with “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law.” The second article charged Mayorkas with a “breach of trust” for saying the border was secure. Republicans had argued for a full impeachment trial against Mayorkas.
