Alexander’s Steakhouse, the first of several new steakhouse concepts opening this fall, welcomes in the public on Monday in the space formerly known as Bacar (448 Brannan). The new owners, whose first upscale steakhouse opened a few years back in Cupertino, have kept much of Bacar’s finishes but installed a new bar, and a new granite-topped dining counter to match. The menu, from executive chef Jeffrey Stout (who will continue running the Cupertino kitchen as well) and chef de cuisine Mark Zimmerman, features items like roasted foie gras, sous vide beet salad, as well as various steak options ranging from the dry aged domestic to Australian and Japanese wagyu. Also, wine assistance will come from Eric Entrikin, one of the elite 105 master sommeliers in the U.S., so that department promises to be pretty fancy too.
