The Canadian Pandemic Preparedness Hub (CP2H) has been awarded more than $115 million to boost Canada’s capacity to develop and manufacture life-saving biotherapeutics, including vaccines, gene therapies and cell therapies.
CP2H is co-led by McMaster University and the University of Ottawa, in partnership with The Ottawa Hospital.

The University of Ottawa’s new Advanced Medical Research Centre will accelerate discovery and new treatments
The rapid development and deployment of vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the critical role of research in creating lifesaving medical innovations. And aligning research with patient needs is exactly what uOttawa pediatrics professor Dr. Jason Berman aims to do in his own practice.
Built on the site of uOttawa’s Faculty of Medicine and adjacent to local hospitals, the AMRC will be a seven-story building that will promote collaborative research between some of the world’s top scientists and clinicians caring for patients in our public health system. It is uOttawa’s largest-ever investment and responds to a longstanding shortage of lab space needed to enhance the medical care that every family relies on.

Students debate the first Choix Goncourt Canada at the University of Ottawa
Young university students from Ontario, New Brunswick and British Columbia have agreed to be a part of the jury for the first edition of the Choix Goncourt Canada.
The French Department of the University of Ottawa is involved in the initiative. Students at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels, alongside Mawy Bouchard, professor and director of the department, jumped right in and created a book club to read the works being considered for the 2023 Prix Goncourt in order to choose which to defend. Claudia Bouliane, professor in the department, oversaw the process.
