Published by the United Nations, I recent list revealed more than 16 current, humanitarian crises are going shutterstock_99245384unreported all over the world; crises that require urgent help and that have been unresolved for years.

Together with their charity partners, Appco Group España are spreading the word to the thousands of people they speak to each and every day. In many countries, such as Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Chad and Afghanistan, much of the population is living in danger.

At one time these crises occupied the attention of the international community and Media, but nowadays they have each become a “forgotten crisis”. The suffering continues as people still need basic necessities such as food, shelter or clean water due to the effects of wars and natural disasters.

By spreading the word, Appco Group España are hoping they can draw attention to the millions of people needing help all over the world.

Appco Group Sport Australia’s Managing Director, David Legudi, received personal thanks from Special Olympics IMG_7437Australia for an unbelievably successful 2011-2012 Voucher Campaign.

General Manager of Special Olympics Australia, Alex NcNeilly, commented “since the campaign began we have raised $370,000 for national & grass roots programmes, promoted our organisation to more than 2 million people and introduced new athletes and volunteers to Special Olympics. Half of the money raised from the 2012 campaign has been used by our local regions to support local needs, including helping teams get to the Junior National Games, purchasing uniforms & equipment and subsidising athlete growth strategies. This would not have been achieved without the dedication and commitment from Appco Group Sports and their teams”.

The Appco Group’s ongoing training programmes have ensured a strong and successful relationship with Special Olympics Australia ensuring it has been a highly positive venture. Appco Group Sport has successfully promoted this great cause and built their brand awareness.

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was last month on March 8, and most charities across the world denounced the situation of girls and women across the world, in countries such as Egypt, India, Peru, Uganda or Vietnam.shutterstock_104623166

As a strategic partner of many of these charities, Appco Group España has developed various awareness and fundraising campaigns for this cause. Millions of women around the world feel insecure in their day to day lives, studies have shown, and this is exactly what international agencies reported.

Moreover, women and girls are less likely to attend school than men. They have less access to land ownership, as well as credit, agricultural extension services. They have little, if any, voice in decision-making. The disparity between what women do, and the resources they have, is staggering.

mount kili

On March 13, 2013, sixteen delegates from Appco Group UK’s Support division will be embarking on the challenge of a lifetime.

The delegates will be taking on the dizzy heights of Mount Kilimanjaro in support of one of Appco Group Support’s charity partners, Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO).

VSO is the world’s leading independent international development organisation that sends experienced volunteers to save lives in the worlds poorest countries and share their skills.

All sixteen of these brave climbers have been fundraising tirelessly as well as training in order to prepare themselves for this demanding but extremely exciting experience.

One of the climbers, Lawrence Lenzi, recently commented, “it’s getting close now, and I think the reality is starting to kick in that we will be spending six days climbing a mountain that is over five thousand meters high. It’s going to be a fantastic experience and all for a great cause – let’s hope the money we raise makes a huge difference to the volunteers that give up years of their lives every single year for people that are less privileged. Best of luck to everyone”.
