    Harper Wilkinson, Young Entrepreneur Celebrates World Doll Day in Orange Beach

    Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Take a deep dive into the world of imagination where friendship sees no faces and everyone gets a seat at the table. Since 1828 the world has highlighted its fascination with dolls and the life, joy and connection they bring to any playhouse on the second Saturday of June, deemed World Doll Day. One day of the year dedicated to taking out favorite dolls or stuffed animals to show and tell or share and play with friends. Other ways to celebrate the day might include appreciating the unique designs and cultural influences that have shaped different dolls throughout history. Put together a doll hunt, make a homemade doll or outfit, host a doll party, or like one local Orange Beach little girl, start a business where Doll Day can be every day.

    Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – Over the years, locals see many ranking that promote the beauty of Gulf Shore's sugar white sands. Not many of those ranking lists have as many followers as U.S. News. Gulf Shores, Alabama, has been named the 5th best beach in the United States for 2024 by U.S. News. Known for its stunning white quartz sand and warm, emerald waters, Gulf Shores attracts beachgoers from around the country and the world. As U. S. News stated, "The city of Gulf Shores offers a range of amenities and attractions that cater to various interests."

Forecasters predict an active hurricane season, making it crucial for every household and business in Baldwin County to be prepared for potential impacts.
    Foley Improving Police Pay, Opportunities

    Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – Many Foley police are getting better pay and opportunities in an effort to recruit and retain officers to meet the demands of the growing city. A new pay plan approved by the Foley City Council increases the starting pay level for non-certified and certified officers while providing more opportunities for growth and development within the agency. Officers will see an expansion of specialty opportunities which will be used to suppress crime and foster strong relationships with the community.
    Perdido Beach Resort Hosts Annual MAAAC Gala

    Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Tickets are now available for the Makos Academics, Arts, and Athletics Club (MAAAC) Gala, sponsored by Perdido Beach Resort. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, 2024. All proceeds from ticket and table sales will support the MAAAC Annual Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Orange Beach. The silent auction proceeds will support educational programs for Orange Beach City School students.

    (OBA) – The Expect Excellence Music Department will present "Dream On: A Tribute to Classic Rock" at the Orange Beach Performing Arts Center for a return performance from June 27-29. The show will feature hits from the '70s, '80s, and '90s, highlighting bands like AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi, and Aerosmith. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. on June 27 and 28, and 2 p.m. on June 29. Tickets are $15 and available for general admission. Doors open one hour before each show​.

    Lillian, Ala. – (OBA) – According to the Lillian Fire and Rescue Facebook page, a 33-foot boat caught fire and sank in Perdido Bay on Tuesday afternoon. The fire broke out around 3 p.m., prompting multiple fire departments to respond. According to photos taken by Flo Rider Thompson and posted on his a Facebook page, the boat had sunk by 3:56pm.
    Gulf Shores Park Project Delayed by Rising Costs

    (OBA) – Another project is facing delays in Gulf Shores because of the skyrocketing cost of materials and construction, putting an ambitious plan for Coastal Gateway in a bit of a holding pattern. Following the city council work session on June 3, a woman who lives in the area near the proposed park said she heard a significant delay was planned.
    Foley Plans New Pavilion at Graham Creek Nature Preserve

    (OBA) – A new pavilion could meet some of the growing demand for event and educational space at Foley’s Graham Creek Nature Preserve. The Foley City Council voted to initiate the pavilion capital project at the preserve. The resolution calls for the development of plans for a large event pavilion at the preserve. The city will go out for bids on the facility once designs are completed.
    Tacky Jacks Orange Beach Summer of Fun

    Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Tacky Jacks is hosting the 12th Annual Summer of Fun at its Gulf Shores and Orange Beach locations. The series features art classes, nature programs, and beach games. Events run from June 4 through the summer months. Online reservations are required. Many of these events fill up quickly, interested parties should reserve your spot early. Below are details for each type of event.
