Haroshi makes his art pieces recycling old used skateboards. His creations are born through styles such as wooden mosaic, dots, and pixels; where each element, either cut out in different shapes or kept in their original form, are connected in different styles, and shaven into the form of the final art piece. Haroshi became infatuated with skateboarding in his early teens, and is still a passionate skater at present.
The Future of the Business Card
Just finished reading this interesting article via Mashable that’s a nice follow-up to a post I wrote back in October on business cards. While traditional business cards can be a great vehicle for design and creativity the truth is that one day they will be obsolete. And, with apps such as Bump and LinkedIn’s Cardmunch (not to mention the prevalence of smart phones), that future may be just around the corner.
While this doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the business card as a whole (currently, 10 billion business cards are printed annually – that’s a lot!), it does mean a re-shaping, or re-imagining, will need to take place. How will the business card adapt to avoid extinction? Mainly, how can designers re-invent the business card so that it is readable and translates well into a pre-configured application? Time will have to tell…
I <3 Pinterest
I recently started using the new social media, image-sharing site, Pinterest, and I think I’m in love. The site seamlessly aggregates images from a huge array of sources and makes sharing, or pinning, a breeze. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a site so user-friendly. Not only can I “pin” creative bits I find or create on my own, but, after telling Pinterest my interests, I can browse hundreds of posts from people just like me! It’s a great source of discovery and inspiration.
Pinterest sums it up best,
Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.
Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.

I know I’ve been missing for quite some time with only an erratic post here and there, and I offer my sincere apologies. I’ve been neglecting my blogging duties, and I promise to try to be better from here on out. I was busy with the big move, and I became a little sidetracked. But enough dilly dallying…on with the posts!
Inspiration for Life
Sorry I haven’t been posting for a while. I’ve been super busy packing up my apartment, getting ready for a big move and new job 🙂 But I wanted to post this video someone shared with me today. It’s a little sentimental but still worth watching nonetheless. It’s fascinating how relevant the words are today as they were 70 + years ago. And, it really goes to show that we’ve been facing some of the same issues for decades. Maybe this will inspire us all to treat each other a little better this holiday season.
