Willow Glen Sweet Shoppe

Sad to see this sweet shoppe closed. Best stretchy icecream my daughter loves the most.

This is a really quaint and cozy candy shop that sells a nice variety of retro candies (lots of sweets and chocolates w/ old school wrappers), plenty of Annabelle's bars (LOOK!, Rocky Road, etc.), and even some toys, novelty items, and greeting cards. I loved finding throwback treats, like Fruit Stripe gum, which of course I had to purchase to bring me back to my childhood!

They also have a bulk candy station, where you can fill your bag with as much of whatever candy you like, including jelly beans. Actually, the worker fills it for you (maybe cuz of covid?!?), but same thing, kind of like at Sweet Factory.

We ended up getting some gelato and ice cream. They don't do it by the scoop... basically you pick a cup size and they'll fill it with any combination of flavors you want. Awesome! I got a medium cup of Mint Chocolate Chip and Heaven (vanilla, peanut butter, and fudge). It was certainly heavenly :) My partner got 3 flavors of gelato in a medium cup - Honey Lavender, Lemon, and Stracciatella (italian version of chocolate chip), a flavor of gelato I love. The gelato melted faster than the ice cream while we were eating it, and the worker told us it was because gelato is 10 degrees warmer than ice cream. On a hot day, we enjoyed our treats out front. They don't have any indoor seating, only 3 benches outside the store plus one bench on the sidewalk right in front of the shop. Everything was creamy and delicious.

I saw some old reviews and can tell you, as of June 2022, you won't find aisles of candy at this new location and there is no back space/lounge showing the classic Willy Wonka film or anything like that here. But the store is made up of two very small rooms with enough quirky and nostalgic items to explore and enjoy your time here, and very friendly workers (possibly the owners, since this is a family business).

I'll definitely return for more :)

This is a cute little shop that sells candy and ice cream. I tried most of the gelato flavors but I found them to be very very sweet. The dark chocolate gelato was pretty good, if you like a bit of bitterness you'll probably enjoy it. Felt like the ice cream is over priced especially compared to the quality. It was good but there was nothing spectacular about it

Absolutely adore the Willow Glen Sweet Shoppe. They are located on a corner in downtown Willow Glen and were previously across the street. The owner and staff are truly lovely folks. They have a wide range of candy selections and whenever I feel the need for ice cream I head directly to them. They have some of the MOST delicious ice cream and gelato in the area.

Truly, wonderful 'Willy Wonka'ish' local candy shop.

A tiny little shop with ice cream, gelato, and lots of different candies! I had a medium strawberry cheesecake gelato that was amazing! Not crazy expensive either, I think it was around $5 for a medium. I'd come back for sure and try more flavors! The inside could use a bit of a makeover but I love the location and the product!

I love candy. I just can't get enough of it though my tastes have changed over time for sure. I find myself tending to gravitate to fruity things these days. I digress.

So I needed to break my cash into something I can tip with and my luck this sweet shop was right near where I was going to be. I wandered in and it was like...dare I say it....I was a kid in a candy store.

They had their own house made chocolate, ice cream as well as candy by the pound. I always have to hold myself back on the candy because I'll end up buying a ton. I was a little skeptical on the quality as the candy looked kind of old, but upon taste, they were soft and chewy and perfect consistency. I just wished they posted the prices for candy somewhere or if they did, I didn't see it readily visible. It'd be nice near the bags.

Overall, if you're in the Willow Glen area and strolling downtown, stop by and be transported back to when you were a kid and just wanted a bag of sugar...or just stop by cause it's a local spot and it's quaint.

Today was my first visit to the new location and, while it's a lot smaller than before, I think it's actually better. It feels homey instead of overwhelming.

The staff was awesome and they're taking COVID preventions very seriously. I enjoyed browsing all the old time candy and getting some Marianne's ice cream on a warm day.

Definitely recommend stopping by!

I've been to the Sweet Shoppe a few times. This place is cute and quaint.

If you are looking to reminisce of your childhood, no matter your age, thus is the place. Their candy selection is amazing, they have decades of choices.

However the reason I make the trip, all the way from Gilroy is their gelato. They have an extensive selection of flavors; some seasonal.

My favorites are the tiramisu, peanut butter, and crème brûlée. They have a honey lavender that is exceptionally good, you must try it.

The ice cream is top notch but beware if you want a waffle cone. We were charged $9.99 per cone even though mine was two scoops and my wife only got one. We were told they "charge for the cone". 20 bucks for two ice cream cones?!?! Not good business will definitely hesitate to go back.

UPDATE: owner says those cones hold a pound of ice cream which equals 6 scoops--so it's actually a GREAT deal now that I know that! I'll be back for the scoops I missed out on

Found this place based on the Yelpers who compared Eataly gelato to willow glen sweet shoppe and said it had the best gelato. We stopped by and oh my! They truly have the most delicious gelato. My new favorite gelato place. No more heading to the mall for gelato. Thanks to yelpers. We'll be back.
Also the customer service is awesome. There is friendly welcoming gentleman.
