EXPERIENCE TRADITIONAL JAPANESE BUDO KARATE IN ITS PURE FORM.

Budo is a Japanese term. It means "martial way" and refers to those martial disciplines whose ultimate goal is spiritual, ethical and/or moral self-improvement. The characters “bu” and “do" in "budo" are rich in meaning and have many secondary interpretations.

INSPIRATION FOR THE BODY, MIND , SOUL and SPIRIT

“ The Karate that I teach is combined within a triangle of the Body, Mind and Spirit. Many people mistake strength as just an external physical force however this is far from correct, in short as an analogy when you see a beautiful house or car or even the wonderful ocean all you see is the external , yet most Human’s will never see the internal infrastructure or the internal living force and world that is under the sea. Human’s have an external and when you see this in the mirror you can identify with this easily. However it is extremely difficult to connect with their internal self. You are not taught this in school nor in University, you are programmed. Japanese Karate is connected with Budo and Zen Buddhism, these concepts of Buddhism are not a religion but a philosophy of how to connect your outer self with your inner self and discover the true self with meditation (Zazen) and the rigorous practice of Karate and discover the living force within yourself. It is important alway’s regardless of what situation you are placed in to control yourself and remain calm, if you can accomplish this then you will be able to make the right decisions. True strength comes from within. This is why the breathing we do in training is so essential.

Through our Karate training we make real life progress in discovering our inner selves our weaknesses and our strengths, yes we will confront setbacks during our course of training however if we push on through the hard times and be determined , use the power of the mind and the innate capacity to be in control of yourself and to go along without fear, accomplishing whatever comes within your mind and believing that with effort you will get there.Without pain there is no substantial gain"

My predicament is that the future will be hard as we are going through a Tsunami currently throughout the World including here in NZ, so it is important to keep your spirits strong and turning up to Karate Do training, as this is the best way to propagate your spirit and keep your Body ,Mind and Spirit in balance.

Many humans in this life loose themselves when hardships arise and mental health is affected and I have seen many cases of this over the last two years. When you go to training no matter how exhausted and fatigued you are then this is the best time to gain mental and spiritual balance and refresh your whole being and empty your mind of all the negativity that you accumulate.

Sitting behind a computer all day and or playing computer games and sending endless texts throughout the day has become the “new norm” of our current society to the extent that the majority sleep with their mobile cell phones. We were not designed for this as this is not natural and is very destructive. Those who are affected by this technology on a 7 day basis must remove this addiction from their brain and connect with nature again as this is their only saving grace.

Kanazawa Hirokazu Soke ( Grand Master )

“HIROKAZU KANAZAWA is considered one of the most skilful karate masters of all time. A great technician and an excellent instructor, he has built up a loyal and dedicated following of students worldwide. A gentle and sincere man and a direct student of FUNAKOSHI GICHIN, he has been able to convey the concepts of karate to many generations of students. As prolific author, he has also had many instructional books and videos produced. It could be argued that many people would not have started karate if they had not seen demonstrations from this very talented master. In any case, he is a true legend of Shotokan karate.”

” My philosophy is that I try always to be true to myself and to others … I can say that I fear nothing – not even death, and this I do not say in a big-headed or conceited way. My meaning is that I always try my best in everything I do, so I will be satisfied when I do die – I think the reason that people fear death is because they want to do and accomplish so many other things that are still undone . . . they always want to do more. Also, I truly believe that life continues after physical death – all life continues … life is a circle “.

Kanazawa Soke (10th Dan Black Belt) is one of the world most renowned and respected traditional karate masters of all time. He is the first Karateka to have won the notorious All Japan karate Championship.

In 1957 Kumite champion (while nursing a broken wrist)
In 1958 Kumite and kata champion

Although trained in Judo in his early years, Kanazawa Soke took up karate whilst at University under the late headmaster of JKA Shotokan, Sensei Masatoshi Nakayama. Kanazawa Soke is also one of the few remaining Karateka privileged to have studied under the great Shotokan Master Gichin Funakoshi, the famous Okinawan Karate Master who brought Karate to mainland Japan in 1922 from Okinawa and founded the Shotokan style.

In 1978, Kanazawa Soke set up SKIF (Shotokan Karatedo International Federation). SKIF is now the worlds largest Shotokan Karate Association under one chief instructor, having several million members in over 130 countries.
